ECCCM is an active member of the community, working in collaboration with other agencies for the benefit of all Catawba County citizens.
Continuum of Care
ECCCM participates in the Continuum of Care, which addresses the homeless issues of Catawba County. A particular emphasis involves churches in the Newton-Conover, Maiden, Sherrills Ford and Terrill area in seeking to establish an emergency shelter in this region. ECCCM is now an official drop-off location for homeless supplies, which are then distributed through shelters such as Room at the Inn at First Presbyterian Church in Newton.
Food Policy Council
In addition to the Backpack Food Program, ECCCM is the convener of the newly established Food Policy Council of Catawba County. Convening the voices of other agencies that deal with hunger issues, this council assesses and develops nutritional standards and a workable plan focused on eliminating hunger. In collaboration, these agencies will seek USDA funding for the implementation and success of food distributions systems to those in need.
Working with other agencies of Catawba County, ECCCM works to collaborate with other agencies in a myriad of opportunities for the well-being of Catawba County. From local governments, to non-profit agencies, to supportive businesses, members of this council come together with the sharing of information, resources and planning to achieve more together than could be achieved alone.
