CHILDREN’S SERVICES

HEAD START PROGRAM

This is an early childhood educational program, federally sponsored and taught by certified teachers to children of low-income families; 10% of the children have some type of disability. Children ages 3,4 & 5 are taught at the following locations: Newton, Balls Creek, Longview & Fairgrove. For more information contact Mary Campbell, Director (828) 464-8875. CHRISTMAS BUREAU (Toy Store)

The Christmas Bureau is a united effort among local citizens, agencies and sponsors in Catawba County to coordinate the sharing of Christmas gifts with those in need. We also share information to help prevent duplication of services, in order to reach more families in need during the Holiday Season.

Starts in November each year. Applications are taken at ECCCM, then transferred to The Salvation Army in Hickory. Distribution of toys, food and clothes is through the Catawba County Christmas Bureau to families in need. "By this method the Christmas Bureau families are served without duplication."
