Rev. Robert C. Silber, Executive Director
Rev. Robert C. Silber is an ordained United Methodist pastor and a member of the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church, having served congregations in Iredell, Catawba and Cabarrus Counties. Born and raised in Chicago, He and is wife Karen met in Florida, married in 1978, and have lived in Conover NC for over 26 years.
Rev. Silber is a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Psychology with an emphasis in philosophy; Hood Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) with an emphasis in theology and biblical interpretation; and has completed post-graduate work in church growth, revitalization and renewal at Duke Divinity School.
Rev. Silber began his association with ECCCM in 2001 when he was appointed to a Catawba County church by the Bishop, and began volunteering at ECCCM with his youth group. Additionally, he served on the Capital Campaign for the ECCCM’s new building, and served four years on the Board of Directors, as well as the President of the Board of Directors. In May 2010 Rev. Silber returned from serving a congregation in Cabarrus County when the Board of Directors called him to serve as ECCCM’s third Executive Director in its then 41-year history. The Bishop of Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church has appointed Rev. Silber to serve at ECCCM as a vital mission extension of the United Methodist Church.
Under Rev. Silber’s leadership, ECCCM has expanded its operations and moved deeper into the technological age. Office operations are now fully digital and paperless, utilizing the latest cloud based computing methodologies, which saves the agency considerable expenses. Financial crisis services have expanded to fully help families in need, maintaining the agencies commitment of serving all in need, never turning away any qualifying family. Under Rev. Silber, the Crisis Assistance Coaching Program was developed, which is equipping families with financial literacy and goal setting as ECCCM provides a hand up. Rev. Silber worked with leaders in the Newton-Conover City Schools and Catawba County Schools as the Student Hunger Prevention Program was establish, fully meeting the needs of vulnerable school aged children, grades K-12 with a 12-month hunger program. Rev. Silber is a strong partner and supporter of the Catawba County United Way, working for the welfare of all county residents.

As an ordained pastor, Rev. Silber is available to area churches on Sunday mornings by invitation for pulpit supply, bringing a message ECCCM’s ministry in conjunction with the Gospel. Rev. Silber is also available to civic groups and organizations to present a program about the mission, ministry and programs of ECCCM.
